LET THE CHEERING BEGIN!It was a celebration for her team. She waited until just the right time in the game. With pure power and the grace of a deer, she raced alongside the football field. She sprung forward to do a roundoff and began a series of back handsprings all the way down the track. This cheerleader just may have been the best athlete on the field that Friday night. But her goal was to cheer and inspire both her football team and the fans in the stands. She gave her all to the task. Her goal to cheer, encourage, and inspire was obviously met. Those back handsprings and passionate cheers illustrate for me one role of the angels in heaven. Jesus told a story of when the angels in heaven celebrate. He said that when one person recognizes his or her need of God and seeks God's forgiveness the angels begin a cheer that fills heaven. Luke 15:10 What I picture are angels leading the heavenly stadium filled with other angels in celebration of one person's decision. I can see angels flying across heaven with back handsprings full of grace and power. And why is there such an awesome display? Because one person has accepted God's forgiveness and eternal life. All it takes is one person and heaven erupts with cheers. Those pictures inspire me to do my best to win more people to Jesus Christ. As you cheer, remember the pictures of those heavenly cheerleaders. The angels know how to celebrate the victories that mean the most to God. I encourage you to find ways to share the love of Jesus Christ with others. Cheer them on to Jesus Christ. As you do, someone will recognize his or her need for Jesus Christ. A person will ask Jesus for forgiveness. A person is won to Christ. When that happens, you will have been the person to start the heavenly cheers.
